In der Natur gibt es 3 Isomere (α-, β- und γ-Caryophyllen), wobei β-Caryophyllen das am häufigsten anzutreffende und am häufigsten vorkommende der Isomere ist.

Zu finden in:
Dieses Sesquiterpen kommt am häufigsten in Nelken, schwarzem Pfeffer, Basilikum, Oregano und Cannabis vor. Zeichnet sich durch seinen würzigen und pfeffrigen Geruch aus.

Therapeutische Eigenschaften:
Darüber hinaus wird als herausragendes Merkmal angenommen, dass β-Caryophyllen an CB2-Rezeptoren bindet und das Endocannabinoid-System aktiviert. Die β-Caryophyllen-Dosis erzeugt keine psychoaktive Wirkung.
